Self-employed worker underlines benefits of private medical insurance
April 17, 2012
A self-employed IT consultant has spoken of the benefits of private medical insurance for himself and his family.
Private medical insurance can be particularly beneficial for Britons who work for themselves, a satisfied customer has claimed.
Mark Didehvar, a 35-year-old self-employed IT consultant, told the Independent his reasons for purchasing health insurance.
He claimed that, while the NHS is good in medical emergencies, sorting out less serious medical complaints "can take a long time" as you often have to wait for tests and results.
"Being self-employed, I need to fix any medical issues as quick as possible in order to minimise time off work and get back to full health as quickly as possible," Mr Didehvar explained.
The consultant revealed that he has private medical insurance - including cancer cover - for himself, his wife and three children.
He also pays an additional amount so that there is no excess to pay in the event of a claim.
Self-employed people who are considering taking out private medical insurance can obtain a range of quotes online from providers such as PruHealth, Bupa and AXA PPP.
