Mums 'concerned about funding healthcare'
September 07, 2010
Almost one-quarter of mothers are worried about the potential for healthcare costs to rise.
A considerable number of mothers are concerned about the potential impact the squeeze on public healthcare funding will have on their families.
According to research conducted by Simplyhealth insurance, 24 per cent of mums are worried that cuts to public sector financing will mean their families will have to spend more on their healthcare needs.
Half of those surveyed said they are planning to take a greater interest in their children's daily diet, while 40 per cent want their kids to take regular exercise in order to stay healthy.
Independent health policy analyst Roy Lilley said: "This survey tells us that families are much more concerned about the future health of their family than we might have thought."
Earlier this month, a report from the International Monetary Fund warned that growing numbers of elderly people around the world are going to make funding healthcare one of the biggest challenges for governments in the 21st century, reported Citywire.
