Simplyhealth finds mixed views on employer healthcare provision
September 02, 2010
Receiving healthcare benefits from your employer is something of a lottery, a Simplyhealth study has suggested.
Healthcare provision from employers is an uncertain area, new research from Simplyhealth insurance has discovered.
The company spoke with HR managers and found that there are a range of views on whether organisations should provide healthcare benefits to their workers.
While 33 per cent said employee health and wellbeing is a key motivating factor in the provision of such perks, 23 per cent of those questioned said looking after healthcare should be the sole responsibility of an individual, reports Health Insurance and Protection magazine.
James Glover, Simplyhealth's corporate sales and marketing director, said: "It's apparent that companies are seriously having to consider the role they play in supporting employees and indeed, the greater good."
Last month, a spokesman for the Association of British Insurers explained that private medical insurance could be highly useful to many people around the UK.
The cover was particularly recommended to anyone living in an area with high NHS waiting lists, as well as those with a family to look after.
